Member of the Swiss Tamil Football Association
More than a team
Founded in Zürich in 1989, and one of the first Tamil football clubs in Switzerland. A member of the Swiss Tamil Football Association ever since.
Our story
One of the first Tamil football clubs in Switzerland, started by friends who wanted a place to play and stayed for the community.
1989
Founded in Zürich
Our roots go back to the eighties. As one of the first Tamil football clubs in Switzerland, FC City Boys is founded in Zürich — a club to bring Tamils together through football, and to give something back to the society around it.
1990
The first big title
One year in, the club fights its way to its first major title.
2004
Tsunami relief
After the tsunami, the club collects money, food and clothing and distributes them to compatriots in need in Sri Lanka.
2016
Natpukkahaa
The club funds a mixed friendly tournament in Sri Lanka — Project Natpukkahaa.
2018
The Paranthan pitch
The club funds the rebuilding of a football pitch in Paranthan, complete with changing rooms, showers and toilets.
2020
Help through the pandemic
When Corona breaks out, the club passes on information and organises masks and disinfectant through donations, and distributes them.
2022
FC City Boys Sillalai
A donation supports FC City Boys Sillalai, a team in Sri Lanka that carries the club's name.
2026
More than a clubToday
Squads from juniors to seniors play under the STFA today, carried by a board, a coaching team and members who all give their time for free — and by the fans who have stood behind the club from the start, in good times and bad.
What we stand for
Respect, team spirit, fair play
The goal is to keep winning — the trophy room shows it — but never at the cost of respect. The club stands behind all nine principles of Swiss sport's Ethik-Charta, from equal treatment for all to a clear no to violence, doping and corruption.
9 charter principles
More than a club
A place for Tamil youth and adults in Switzerland to play football, meet like-minded people and belong — with the hope of a shared future, on and off the pitch.
Founded 1989
Give something back
Board, coaches and members all work voluntarily, and the club gives beyond Zürich: pitches rebuilt, tournaments funded and relief organised for Sri Lanka.
